Tara and Dundulla Dryland Cropping Expansion, NSW Notification of Publication of Final Preliminary Documentation (EPBC

The following notice is published in accordance with Section 95B (2) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act)
A J and K M Smith are proposing to clear up to 587 ha of native vegetation to develop the area for dryland crop production on Tara and Dundulla Station, near Walgett, NSW.
The proposed action has been determined to be a “controlled action” under the EPBC Act. The controlling provision under the EPBC Act is “Listed threatened species and communities” (Sections 18 and 18A). The National Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has advised that the project will be assessed by preliminary documentation lodged with the referral.
The draft preliminary documentation was placed on public exhibition from Monday 17th August to Friday 28th August 2026. One public submission was received during this period. A summary of this submission and a response have been included in the final preliminary documentation.
The final preliminary documentation will be on display for 10 business days from Thursday 24th September to Thursday 8th October 2026 at the following locations:

Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm
• Local Land Services, 75 Fox Street, Walgett NSW 2832
