THE POSITION
The Finance and Business Manager is a full-time position, located in Devonport, Tasmania, and responsible for overseeing the financial health and business operations of the organisation. You will be part of the senior executive team, driving financial performance, guiding business decision-making, and ensuring that financial strategies align with overall business objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Finance and Business Manager position brings together the financial and operations aspects of the business, to ensure a coordinated and strategic approach, resulting in optimised business performance.
Financial management functions include:
- Prepare and oversee the administration of budgets, cash flow, account payments and financial plans to ensure the company meets its financial goals
- Oversee accounts management in partnership with the Pinion Advisory accounts Team Leader
- Conduct financial budgeting and forecasting
- Execute accurate reporting that enables sound analysis and financial recommendations
- Interpret historical financial data, providing business insights and informing strategy
- Implement financial controls and close monitoring of performance to ensure strategic objectives are met
- Implement systems, tools and technologies to enhance business productivity, client value and employee experience (process improvement tools, expense management tools, accounting tools, etc.).
Business functions include:
- Oversee the management of internal business support operations, including IT, marketing and HR, in partnership with the relevant Pinion Advisory Team Leaders
- Improve operational management systems, processes and practices focused on supporting the Pinion Advisory consulting team
- Optimise and streamline operations to drive efficiency, productivity and profitability
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, safety, and excellence
- Deliver leadership and operational support internally across the business
- Process and workflow improvement
- Guide development and implementation of IT strategy
- Oversee regulatory and legal compliance
- Ensure all operations are carried out in an appropriate, cost-effective way
- Contribute to strategic plans to achieve company goals.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL REQUIRE
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in finance and business management
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing teams
- Strong business acumen and a proven track record in financial leadership
- Understanding of the key drivers that impact the performance of a consulting business
- Strategic thinking and planning
- A passion for driving business success, innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, and ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
