Minimum wage increases and award changes from July 2026
The National Minimum Wage will increase to $26.44 per hour ($1,004.90 per week), and minimum award wages will rise by 4.75%. These changes aim to help workers keep pace with rising living costs.
A range of awards will be affected, including the Pastoral, Horticultural, Transport, Vehicle Repair, Services and Retail awards.
Most allowance rates will also increase from 1 July, as they are generally linked to minimum pay rates. Some expense-related allowances may vary. Employers should review the updated award pay tables carefully.
You can access pay guides for different awards, including the Pastoral Award, on the Fair Work website.
Be sure to check the publication date, as updated rates may take time to be released following the decision.
Even if you pay above award, this is a good time to review your pay rates. Award increases can reduce the gap over time and create compliance risks. If you use flat rates or salaries, confirm they still cover base pay rates, overtime and applicable allowances.
