Since 1 August 2023, all employees are entitled to access paid family and domestic violence leave at their full rate of pay. This includes part time and casual employees.
For small businesses, there are a range of things that you must do to comply with the legislation. This includes:
- Having policies and procedures in place for the leave type.
- Respecting privacy and confidentiality.
- Managing leave and payment processes e.g. in your payroll system and for record keeping.
We often get questions from clients about family and domestic violence leave and how it works when we introduce the topic during our Farm HR: creating employers of choice workshops.
